Instruction to Authors​

Submission of Manuscripts: Manuscripts can be submitted through email as an attachment at ninasingh99@gmail.com or as a hard copy to the Editor, Population Geography, Department of Geography, Panjab University Chandigarh-160014.

Manuscripts must be written on one side of 21 x 28 centimetres, i.e., 8.5 x 11 inches. (Or quarto) paper in 1.5 spacing. The maximum length of an article in double spacing is about 6000 words. Manuscripts should be carefully checked before submission and must be preceded by 7 a cover page listing the title of the paper, full name(s) of the author(s), and their mailing address. 

The paper must not have been published previously in any periodical or book and should not be submitted elsewhere until a decision is received from this Journal. The manuscript should be prepared in English using “MS Word” and “Times New Roman” font. The font size should be 12pt. 

Title: The title should be followed by the author name designation and the institutional affiliation to serve as suitable superscripts. An asterisk (*) must be placed after the corresponding authors name. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors are aware of and approve the contents of the submitted manuscript. All authors’ email id, fax, and telephone numbers are to be provided. 

Abstract: This section should synthesize the research questions, data sources, research methodology, followed by significant findings and conclusion in one paragraph. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams and references in the abstract. It should be single-spaced, not exceed 150 words. 

Keywords: Author(s) must give about 4-6 keywords to identify the most important subjects covered by the paper. These must be placed at the end of the Abstract. 

Introduction: The manuscript should include a brief introduction stating the purpose of the investigation. A review of similar works available in the literature is to be provided. All information essential to the arguments be presented. 

Materials and methods: This section must contain specific details about the materials studied, data sources and techniques of data mapping and analysis. These are meant to facilitate other research workers to verify the results. 

Discussion and results: These should be concisely presented. Tables and figures should be designed to maximize the comprehension of the data. The interpreted results should be explained clearly in discussion. These should be placed in the contest of the existing knowledge in the field. Tables, Graphs and figures (Illustrations) should be inserted into the main text at respective places. When published, these should appear with appropriate numbers and titles with an explanatory heading. The photographs must be clear and sharp. Digital files are recommended for quality reproduction. 

Acknowledgement (if any): This section can be kept at the end of the manuscript before the reference section. This section can be used to acknowledge the help of those who do not qualify for authorship. The funding or sponsoring sources, if any, must be mentioned. 

Bibliographical References: References should be arranged in alphabetical and chronological order. Follow APA style guide (latest edition) for referencing. Links to creating an APA Style reference list and intext citation, based on American Psychological Association (APA) are:

Spellings of Oxford Dictionary are to be used uniformly. 

Footnotes should be numbered consecutively and typed on sheets separate from the text. 

Illustrations in maps, figures, and diagrams, neatly drawn on white paper, should beclear with solid black and white contrasts, numbered consecutively. If photographed, they should be on glossy paper. The height to width ratio should preferably conform to that of the Journal page (19 x 14.5 centimeters, i.e., 7.5 x 5.8 inches).

Off-prints of the paper are provided to authors on demand at a low cost if ordered before publication. Authors will receive a free copy of the Journal in which their article appears. 

The Editor reserves the right to adjust the papers to the style of the Journal. Author/s alone are responsible for the views expressed in their article and for obtaining permission from the concerned authority/person to copy the right material, if used.
